Question:

Is it correct to say "I have started studying English since two years ago."?

my question is about the usage of "since" + "ago". is it correct to use these two together in the context of a present perfect tense? like the example above? or another example like this: "I've know her since 3 years ago". or, "I've lived in this neighborhood since 4 years ago".
thanks :)

Answer:
No, it's not natural English. The best way to say it is probably "I started studying English two years ago," or "I have been studying English for two years." The second one is more specific because it means that you are still studying English now.

You use "since" if you're talking about a specific time when it started and if the action has continued SINCE then. For example, "I have been studying English since high school/2010/I went to Australia," and things like that.

Also, you can't use "ago" and "since" to refer to the same time without another element, so your other sentences aren't right either. You can say "I've known her FOR three years/I met her three years ago," and "I've lived in this neighborhood FOR four years/I moved to this neighborhood four years ago."

However, you can say "I've known her since we met at the party three years ago," and "I've lived in this neighborhood ever since we came from Michigan four years ago," or things like that. This is because the "since" refers to the specified time or instance (the party/coming from Michigan), and the "ago" part also refers to it as a kind of afterthought.

It's hard to explain, so it's better just to listen and look for a lot of correct examples than make your own.

And i refer another person's things also.

"I have been studying English for two years"

"I have been studying English since 2010"

"I started studying English two years ago"

Those are the forms in good British English.
